For those who have taken my Intro course in the past 2 years, this story will resonate strongly with you. Amy Biehl, inspired by Nelson Mandela, went to South Africa in the early 1990s on a Fulbright Scholarship, but lost her life during political violence in 1993. Her parents decided to fight for peace and reconciliation in the spirit of her daughter. They offered their full forgiveness to their daughter’s killers, and supported full amnesty for them as part of the Truth and Reconciliation program.
Linda will be speaking about the idea of restorative justice, what she learned from Nelson Mandela, and her daughter’s death at 4 pm, Tuesday, February 4th, in the K-State Alumni Center Ballroom.
