The first question most anthropology students receive upon informing someone of their major is “What is that?” The next question which invariably follows is “What are you going to do with that?”. While there are a myriad of answers for this question, one increasingly popular response is to detail the growing relationship between the business world and anthropology. Minnesota Business magazine recently interviewed Dr. Bill Beeman, professor and chair of the Department of Anthropology at the University of Minnesota on this topic and the usefulness of ethnographic techniques in several key areas of the business world.
