My name is Megan Powell and I am treasurer of K-State Freedom Alliance, a student organization dedicated to promoting awareness and activism around the issue of human trafficking on a local, state, national, and global level.
Our organization is hosting a screening of the film “Trade of Innocents”.
The film follows a married couple who become involved in the movement against human trafficking in Bangkok. This couple interacts with both children currently trapped in forced prostitution as well as the young survivors who have been rescued.
We strongly feel that students in your program would benefit from going to
this screening because they could become a part of something that is bigger than them. This educational opportunity allows students to have a deeper look at human trafficking and its interpersonal effects. We would greatly appreciate it if you would be willing
to help us to send this around to your students and faculty.
The event will take place on Tuesday, February 11 in Forum Hall at 7:00 pm.
The event is free of charge and members from the Freedom Alliance, Women’s Center, and the American Criminal Justice Association will be available both before and after the film for one-on-one discussion.
